SPECIAL COVID 19 UPDATE
*********************
2020 - Outdoor Ring
With the cancellation of
indoor agility competitions, group indoor agility activities,
and our responsibility in taking the Covid-19 precautions seriously,
all my
indoor group activities
have been rescheduled.
Currently, ALL pre-scheduled individual training opportunities listed
below in the OUTDOOR RING
are
pending.
Please check back frequently for updates.
When we resume, these pre-scheduled sessions will run as scheduled OR be
rescheduled.
Additional opportunities will then be
available to core and agility clients.
You will have the choice of
scheduling an
INDIVIDUAL PRIVATE LESSON or
an INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE SESSION.
Individual will continue to mean only ONE HANDLER at a time.
Strict protocols will continue be in place.
We thank you for following them for your and other's safety.
ONLY ONE team per session will be scheduled.
For liability reasons, I
must be present during practice sessions.
During practice sessions you will
have access to all the equipment,
however, we have changed protocol regarding setting bars.
We are asking you to bring gloves to set your own bars. This will further
decrease our interactions.
You do
not have to limit your activities to agility.
Puppy acclimation, basic life skills, obedience, rally,
impulse control, start line, mat/touch plate skills, or simply mixing in play and fun
for example, are also productive use of your team's time.
Currently, all these
opportunities are on a PENDING basis until the
Covid-19 precautions are resolved OR need further adjustment.
Additional opportunities will be provided if the time period for pre-cautions
and
social distancing is extended beyond these dates.
Check back often and especially before the date of your reservation for status, weather
related announcements,
changes in protocol, cancellations or additional opportunities.
Access to the facility will NO LONGER be provided.
Setup, adjustment
and breakdown of the equipment will continue to be included
so as to allow you to utilize all of your time.
During your private lessons, I will reset all bars.
During practice sessions, you will be required to wear gloves and reset your own
bars.
To further your safety, I will not be IN the ring.
The gate latch
will be disinfected between EACH client.
There shouldn't be the need to contact
any other surfaces.
Please bring your own water and supplies for your dog.
PARKING will be on the
field. Cones will designate parking locations to ensure we keep adequate distances.
As
sessions will be limited to ONE handler at a time, there should only be 2
vehicles
present in the parking area. Given the space on our field keeping apart should
be easy.
Please do not arrive too early, as we want to ensure your and other's safety.
We know you cannot always time your arrival!
If you do arrive extra early please park in the spaces nearest to our building.
(email if a
date is full and you want a session, I will make every effort to accommodate
you!)

During Training Sessions we will:
Focus on skills that are specific to agility AND supportive skills which will enhance your ability to team with your dog.
Strive to help you and your dog improve your communication skills through a variety of static and dynamic (moving) activities
Give your dog the opportunity to improve their baseline performance on specific agility obstacles in increments designed to build confidence.
Give you the opportunity to increase your ability to give consistent signals, plan your dog’s path, move through space, AND build on SUCCESS.
Session time can be divided amongst:
· Directional activities –
o your ability to plan your path and use consistent, timely and appropriate signals
o your dog’s ability to move or not move - with you, towards you or away from you
· Communication skills-
o your ability to use clear CONSISTENT signals
o your dog’s mental and physical ability and your dog's DESIRE to respond to your signals
· Obstacle performance –
o your ability to comprehend what physical skills your dog needs to negotiate obstacles
o your ability to comprehend what communication skills your dog needs to negotiate obstacles
o your dog’s ability to comprehend their “job” and physically perform obstacles
· Obstacle/dog/handler focus –
o your ability to plan a path, time signals, attend to your dog and physically maneuver yourself through sequences
o your dog’s ability to transition from attending to you, processing your signals, moving through space and performing obstacles.
· Learning how to shape behavior
o when, where and how rewards are most effective
o how to increase the likelihood that a behavior will occur across many environments
o how to increase the likelihood that a behavior will occur under increasingly diverse situations
o how to play through generalization activities
o keeping the 80% rule
